"I was the demons all along"
Zero kept flying towards the Dark Charizard, attacking it with her best Electric type attacks, which the evil creature dodged hastily. Regardless, Zero kept at it, attacking with the purpose of stopping an evil god from coming out again.
After a hour and half of flight, Zero managed to freeze Draco's right wing, making him fall... right on the Red Waterfall, located in the Black Palmtree Forest of Czuma.
The waterfall is known for droping streams of a blood red water, which, upon serving a water on any kind of recipient, became normal water which did nothing, making cruel rumours about the water being untrue, such as the water causing plagues, bad luck, death... However, there was something behind the rumour; behind the waterfall, a temple-like hall was located inside, with an arcane gate at the end of it. It is speculated to be Zerghus' Grave, while ex-inhabitants of Gorinthia claim that it's not just the portal to Zerghus' Grave, but to another world.
Before Zero landed, she was knockedoff by Draco's Dragonbreath, though she held herself to fake being still weak. Eventually, she landed out of Draco's sight, and he took his chance to get in the temple with the three girls.
'Zero, you okay?' Gorin asked, landing next to her.
'Yeah...' Zero whispered. 'I'm just planning to snap them out of their trance once Draco's distracted enough.'
'Alright, we should sneak right now.' Gorin whispered back.
Gorin and Zero slowly got through the waterfall and snuck through the tight spaces in order to not alert their presence. Meanwhile, Draco had placed Aki, Kitera and Carly on a line, and then ordered them to start chanting the spell to break the gates. 'Yes, master...' All of them spoke before starting to chant a seal-breaking spell. 'Finally, only a few minutes and I'll be free.' Draco grinned.
Something was off for Zero, however.
'He'll... be free?' Zero blurted quietly.
'This is confusing for me as well...' Gorin muttered as he whispered. 'If Draco's there, why he's saying he'll be free?'
'I think I know why, but first...'
In the middle of the spell's completion, Zero jumped and slashed Draco, making him yelp in pain and surprise as he flinched. 'Agh! I thought I've taken you down!' He snarled.
'I'm more powerful than you now. I just had to create a ruse to ambush you eventually.' Zero smiled. 'Oh, and even if you tried Demonic Flame, you wouldn't scratch me now.'
'Of course I can do more than scratch!' Draco blasted his Demonic Flame right at her.
'Zero!!' Gorin yelled.
When the flames dissipated, Gorin and Draco were astonished; Zero hadn't suffered any damage. The flames were still trailing on her lance and fur, but they were diminishing, and she seemed unphased by them. 'See? You're pathetically weak right now. Make them stop or I'll have to do it.'
'I'm surprised you don't know-' Draco was cut short by a powerful Glacier Bomb, sending hin t9 the wall.
'Of course I know. Your aging shell is weakening your power, and what holds your power from going at its full power, isn't just my will of justice, peace and love, but it's also because the innocent man you've taken has been aware of your atrocities all along. Isn't that right...?'
Whoever used to be Draco laughed loudly, Zero holding her lance at him. 'Congratulations! You found out the mystery! As for the girls... they aren't capable of breaking the seals. I'm the only thing needed to break the seal and recover my body. Even though the demigods say that my soul and body were buried within the Dark Realm, they didn't know that my soul escaped the seal just in time. I only needed an emotionally hurt man with a lost family to bring up my plan. I consumed his soul, and I was able to create the Dark Legacy; a terrorist organization formed by the greatest villains and bad guys with the purpose of bringing myself back to life and take over the world.'
'I'll pierce your soul, and you won't be able to recover your body, you inhuman beast.' Zero aimed her spear at him.
Suddenly, she was knocked off by Zerghus' tail, and he stood up. 'You'll have to fight me first... and find out the truth!'
Zero scowled and got up quickly before storming the Charizard with Ice Missiles, which he dodged gracely. The Charizard countered with Flamethrower, which Zero evaded and countered with Glacier Storm, hitting the Charizard hard and making him fall.
Zerghus stood up and attacked Zero with Metal Claw, but she stopped it with her lance, before striking him with Holy Lightning, making him shriek in pain. The Charizard tried to struggle, before hitting her with Shadow Ball. Zero flinched and then saw the Charizard lauching over her in an attempt to crush her under his weight. The Joltaceon kneeled over and held her lance up and high, making Gorin hide his face. A crunching noise was heard...
Gorin unhid it and looked before sighing. Zero had sucessfully impaled Zerghus' old shell and apparently killed him. The Joltaceon then dropped the corpse over and the three girls snapped back to themselves, and one minute before they finished the spell!
'M-my body... what was it doing...?' Aki trembled.
'Brother...? Cousin...?' Carly asked.
'That's it! I'm heading back home!' Kitera yelled.
'Girls, I'm glad you're okay.' Zero smiled.
'Zero... what... what's the corpse?' Aki scowled out of fear.
'You've been freed from Draco's spell, so you're free now.'
'Thanks... when can we go home?' Aki asked.
'Der should be arriving here in a while.' Eventually, a ship landed before the waterfall. 'They are here now!'
As the three girls went to the entrance and meet the others, Zero felt that her rescue attempt was but a trap. A sould floated behind her, ready to snatch her body. 'Watch out!' Gorin screamed before shooting one Ice Beam at the soul, making it bounce away.
'Thank you, hun... I didn't know he was... wait... Why is his soul still here?!' Zero blurted.
'Hahahahahahahahahaha! You think a stupid lance crafted by the gods will stop my soul!? You require more than that, you stupid girl!' Zerghus soul laughed before ramming against the gates. 'You will presence my arrival in a few days, and none of your friends have a chance to stand the Dark Realm!'
The gates lost their seal as they opened, torturous screams and droning noises could be heard from the crimson red portal. Gorin tried to step on it, but he was feeling weak and unable to breath as he tried to cross, but then, Aethria pulled him back.
'Mom... I can't go across... why...' Gorin breathed hard.
'You don't have the powers and force of a demigod, sweetie... This is Zero's job...' Aethria hugged him.
'Aethria, may I ask you a favor?' Zero asked Aethria.
'What is it?'
'I want to bring Gorin, Kyria and Kariiya with me.'
'What?! But... I'm not the one who decides who becomes a demigod or now!' Aethria blurted nervously.
'I am immortal, so I'm unaffected by this Dark Realm.' Kyria smiled, stepping forward.
'Dad said I was to become his successor soon.' Kariiya smiled.
'I'm not becoming successor... but Zeke said I would have the powers for this ocassion, and until this ordeal ends...' Gorin sighed.
Aethria thought for a while, before smiling. 'Alright, I'll see what I can do.'
'Need help?' Milotis entered. 'I think it's time for me to help Arceus in my new job. I'm now the goddess of Life, and he said that you'll be in my place.'
'R-R-Really?!' Aethria blurted, then hugged Milotis. 'Thank you! I'll t-try my best at this!'
'You're still younger than me, Aethria, but your intellect is on the same category as mine. Good luck.'
'What about us?' Gorin asked.
'I shall give you and Kariiya your powers for a temporary time. After you defeat Zerghus, you'll be normal again.' Milotis then covered the Chimereon, the winged Glaceon and the winged Leafeon in a golden Aura.
The three of them took an anthropomorphic shape, wearing platinum armor and helmets. Aethria, on the other hand, got white robes golden borders, golden markings and one of her eyes became yellow. Kariiya gained long, purple hair.
Eventually, Milotis waved good luck at them and traveled upwards through a pillar of light. Aethria, now goddess of light, gave some extra power to the four heroes and wished them good luck as Zero and her friends went through the portal.
The quartet, at first, were being pushed away, but they held each other's hands and managed to go through the force, and then, they were pulled in, going through the vortex, eventually landing on a canyon. Zero looked around as she got up, realizing now that they made it to the Dark Realm. 'This is it...' Zero said. 'No turning back now, guys.'
